"Through Pillows, On To A Tongue "

Emma Lindsay

drifting

slipping through boreholes through pillows

drifting

onto a tongue

‘in dreams and in reality one can barely walk backwards

let alone talk backwards’

thought of toast

thought of the disintegrating space where a body and smiling mind used to be

backwards

through boreholes

mustn’t

a tongue

bittersweet blankets, curd

curdles

cuddles

pillow as tape-recorder

thoughts are disintegration loops

drifting

slipping through boreholes through pillows

barely walk backwards

against the passage of time

not talk backwards

against the passage of time

curdles

forever

on the pillow passage of time
